Metroline Edgware required a comprehensive Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) upgrade to modernise its facilities and improve energy efficiency. The project aimed to replace outdated systems for heating, hot water, and power distribution while maintaining full operational capacity. ICH Services managed the works carefully to avoid disrupting day-to-day operations. In addition, the upgrade focused on reducing environmental impact and improving long-term reliability.
Upgrading heating and hot water systems in a live depot required detailed planning and coordination. The existing gas infrastructure posed safety risks and limited operational flexibility. Furthermore, the outdated boilers, pipework, and gas radiant tubes created efficiency and reliability issues. The old electrical distribution system also lacked capacity to support modern equipment. Working safely within an active facility demanded precise sequencing and continuous communication between teams.
ICH Services replaced the ageing systems with modern, energy-efficient technology. We installed a new VRF system with integrated hot water provision to improve efficiency. In addition, our team removed obsolete boilers, pipework, and gas radiant tubes to create a safer environment. Electric radiant panel heaters were installed throughout the workshop, improving comfort and control. Moreover, we safely capped and decommissioned the gas supply, eliminating potential hazards. A new 250A distribution board and secondary tray work were also installed to support future demand.
The upgrade enhanced energy efficiency and system reliability across Metroline Edgware. Safety standards improved significantly, and operational disruption remained minimal throughout the project. Furthermore, the new electrical infrastructure ensures capacity for future expansion. This successful project demonstrates ICH Services’ ability to deliver complex M&E upgrades safely, efficiently, and with lasting results.
